Please don't kill off Killalea, Mr Brown
Now the word's out, how could there have possibly been proper public consultation about Killalea State Park?
The preferred tenderer appears to have been chosen and Matt Brown says it is an exciting proposal.
It appears Killalea State Park is just about to take a dive, having escaped developers from 1783 to 2007 and now partially to be signed over for 50 years.
Who has seen anyone getting excited about theme parks, hotels, units or other commercial developments on this beautiful section of coastal land?
Eco-tourism development is a nice fuzzy, warm feeling way to submit applications nowadays. Even if the buildings take up 0.1 per cent of this area they catch 99 per cent of the visual impact on coastal hills.
The whole proposal, as reported, is wrong. The beauty of the area needs to be retained by way of our local politicians (just voted in) pulling together to ensure funding is available, and retaining some of our natural coastal land.
It does not matter if you are a folder or a scruncher, the bottom line for Killalea looks sad at the moment. Please don't kill Killalea.
Gary McKenzie, Dapto.
