Don't sell our jewel in the crown, The Farm
I would like to register my absolute disgust at the environmentally diabolical decision to take crown land away from Killalea State Park ("The Farm") and present it to developers.
In your article "Bondi in our Backyard" (Mercury, April 11), Peter Taylor is spot-on when he says "the beauty of the park should not be marred by commercial development". But what else would you expect from the NSW ALP?
When I voted for the Greens recently, the bloke handing out the pamphlet said to me: "It will force Matt Brown to take our opinions into consideration."
I wasn't so naive as to believe that, but at the time Premier Morris Iemma was preferable to a bloke who wanted to round up anyone not blue-eyed and blond and put them into prison and needlessly cut thousands of public sector jobs.
But Mr Brown, this decision absolutely stinks!
It is right up there with the uglification of Shellharbour. The ridiculous marina, the awful housing developments, the silly Shellharbour wall, the impossible golf course and the 101 roundabouts.
We should lock up our town planners, developers, local politicians and council in Guantanamo - they are a lot more dangerous to our country than David Hicks ever was!
The Farm is still a jewel in the crown of what was once a very nice beachside suburb. I fear its natural beauty will be irreversibly destroyed.
Take your concrete, your focaccia and your cafe lattes elsewhere. We don't need, or want you or your Bondi Beach Mark II around here!
Brian Jones, Warilla.
