Killalea Opposition
Protestors voiced their opposition to the Killalea State Park development at the State Office block in Wollongong today as part of a state wide day of action.
The group tried to hand over a statement to the Lands Department, however, it was left out in the cold.
Police and media almost outnumbered protestors at today's rally.
However, the group refused to label the turn-out as disappointing.
The rally was one in a series across the state targeting the Lands Department.
The Wollongong group demanded the Killalea State Park development be abandoned.
However, protestors trying to deliver a statement to the department found the doors had been locked.
In April the Lands Minister signed an agreement to lease three parcels of the State Park for a tourist resort which will include more than two hundred cabins.
The Lands Minister commented on the protest from the Central West.
To date almost nine thousand signatures have been collected on a petition opposing the development.
