Car havoc will plague Killalea development
By SARAH ALLELY
I wonder if any consideration has been given by the people responsible for putting together the disgraceful Killalea lease to the number of motor vehicles that will be generated within the Killalea reserve if their proposal is allowed to proceed.
The proposed lease involves the creation of 200 strata leasehold units, motel and hotel units, service apartments, licensed restaurant, kiosk, exhibition room, tennis courts, swimming pool, gymnasium and health retreat and staff accommodation.
As well as providing car parking spaces for all above developments, extra parking spaces will be provided for visitors, picnickers and service vehicles.
The blatant misuse of public open space by the NSW Labor Government and the weak-kneed compliance from the five local ALP MPs, is nothing short of a betrayal of Labor principles.
For a short time I did get my hopes up that our fence sitting Labor councillors might make a stand against Killalea privatisation, but alas this was just too much to hope for.
This fire sale of a public asset by our electoral leaders puts them on a par with turncoat of the calibre of Judas Escariot.
Hands off Killalea.
