Gilmore’s nerve over deal outrageous

Ed Gilmore certainly has got a nerve ("Taxpayers' millions at risk over Killalea" - Mercury, August 24).

That he and two other Killalea Trust executive members alone can secretly enter into a legal agreement that incurs a penalty of millions of dollars if the agreement is not completed, and then for him to wag his finger at the public threatening the loss of millions when that public was never consulted, is outrageous.

The 12,000 petitioners (so far) against the leasing of the park make it quite clear, Mr Gilmore, that the public didn't ask you to make such a one-sided agreement with a developer and that you weren't acting in their interests.

If you and other members of the local ALP were just doing minister Kelly's bidding on the Trust, don't threaten the public with loss of money that should be spent on their services.

If you had to cop the consequences of your own deals with the white-shoe brigade then maybe you'd think again before making these deals against the public interest.
