OTHER KNOWN INFORMATION OR COMMENTS:- Most researchers who have worked on this tree appear to agree with the following - John Love arrived in Australia on the 1st August 1791 as a Free Person/Soldier aboard the "Matilda". He was accompanied by his wife Martha and daughter Elizabeth. Although John arrived as a "Free Person" he appears to have been caught up with by the law as in 1806 he was fined for having a liquor still on his farm at "The Field of Mars". Then in 1816 John was convicted of stealing cattle at Cowpastures with his convict servants and was sentenced to hang. Instead he got life and lost some of his assets including the farm at Appin which was forfeited to the Crown. Yet one very thorough researcher informs me that he is convinced daughter Elizabeth (Mrs John Hoare) was born in NSW's and that he is not convinced about most of the information shown on John & Elizabeth Love's heritage back in England as there appears to be more than one couple (recorded as John & Elizabeth Love) around that same period of time.
Additional information was provided to me about John by Marion Starr who has written a book titled :- "Murder, Mayhem & Misdemeanours - Early Settlers at the Cowpastures River NSW 1810 - 1830" John is mentioned on pages 15, 151, 194, 211, 213, 219, 265. Information about the vessel "Matilda" which John, Martha & their daughter Elizabeth came to Australia on can be found on pages 203, 211. The book also mentions over 120 people living in that area at the time giving details about them and the ship they arrived here on, stories of life back in that era, shows maps of land grants and references to where all the information was obtained from.

This line is also well documented on the "Monaro Pioneers" site @ http://www.monaropioneers.com/Love-john.htm but doesn't match or research exactly. Any assistance in sorting out the differences would be greatly appreciated.
